Education

As your Representative Elect, I would be committed to the following:

Investing in Maine People and Moving Maine Forward.

I will do this for my district by:

* Going to Augusta with your messages in mind.
* Persevering in the delivery of those messages and the results sought.
* Offering spirited & responsive leadership.

Healthcare

The number of Mainers without health insurance is a concern for all of us. At the national level approximately 15.6% of the population is without some form of health insurance and many more are under-insured. In Maine, we need to continue work toward affordable, reliable access to health insurance and prescription drug insurance for our citizens. We must do this in a way which will not overburden small business owners and the self-employed with astronomical fees. Dawn will work for you in Augusta to find common sense solutions to this overriding concern.

Environment

Protecting the environment, preserving clean air & water and working for competitively priced reliable clean energy alternatives for southern Maine are of utmost importance to Dawn. Having served on both planning and environmental boards at the local and state level, Dawn is prepared to build on the needs of her district by helping to preserve small Town character while assisting small businesses and planned growth to happen in a sustainable way.

Budget & Fiscal Responsibility

The budget is a reflection of our traditions, values and priorities in Maine. Dawn’s leadership and business acumen over the years have gained her the requisite experience to effectively promote balanced budgets and smart spending for the district as a whole. As a Director of the Maine Mutual Group Insurance Company (a $100,000,000 home/auto/commercial lines carrier), Dawn has served as Chair of the Budget & Planning Committee and Chair of Compensation & Personnel Committee. A small business owner herself, Dawn created and developed, it’s a dog’s world, the largest canine activity and training center on the Seacoast. Her straightforward thinking and business leadership will allow Dawn to play an important role in forming future Maine budgets that are more inline with the values & needs of her constituents in York, Cape Neddick, Ogunquit, Wells/Moody and Kittery.

Education

Investing in Maine’s people means investing in their education! From early childhood development to providing opportunities in higher education, we must ensure that the children of our district have the tools and resources they need to be among the best and brightest in the state and the nation. We live and compete in a global economy – so our children need to be prepared to do so as well. Dawn advocates for acquiring and retaining quality teachers; places an emphasis on science, math and reading comprehension for all children; and promotes fair and equitable solutions for funding every child’s education. It’s all about investing in Maine people now and for their future.
