Fighting to protect Maine citizens from predatory lending and "equity stripping" of their homes via rogue loans was accomplished during the 123rd Legislature. I supported consumers' right to get cash refunds on most gift cards with a value of less that $5 dollars left and prevented pre-paid calling card providers from changing the value of the card after their purchase.
Appointed to serve on a sub-committee to help draft the ignition inter-lock bill which is designed to reduce repeat drunk driving offences and operating a vehicle after suspension, I championed this bill to cut through regulatory red tape to see its enactment. It will help to prevent countless repeat OUI offenses in the future, keep people in work & school and make our roads safer for all.
A passionate dog owner, I actively supported new and safer regulation of puppy breeding, safer kennel practices through licensing and sponsored LD-1727, an update to the rabies vaccination process in Maine that puts local Animal Control Officers in the know about newly vaccinated dogs in an effort to also have those dogs licensed, which is required by Maine law.
