Having boldly entered into the 21st century, we recognize that in a global economy where information, technology and skilled labor are prerequisites for success it is time that Maine re-invent itself, re-energize its ingenuity and live up to its natural and economic potential. The challenges we face are daunting: rising fuel costs, spiraling healthcare costs, loss of manufacturing jobs, rising property taxes and the struggles that everyday hard working Maine families experience in order to make financial ends meet.
In this geographically diverse state, as we look to resolve our most pressing issues from coastline to mountains, from farmland to suburban centers, we must continue our compassionate commitment to educating our children, community involvement & volunteerism and taking care of our most vulnerable citizens. Healthcare reform and protecting the environment must continue to be in the forefront. So too should we provide opportunities through education and reward Maine's tradition of innovation and economic growth.
Protecting Maine people and the brand of quality of place where we live is essential. Protecting our longstanding tradition of kindness, hard work and that unmistakable independent spirit is priceless. This is Maine and we can do it.
