The Maine experience is unforgettable - so too are its people. Perhaps it's a memory of going to one of Maine's sandy beaches or rocky coastline; or, fishing from a canoe in the lake; a walk on one of Maine's forested trails; or perhaps a skiing vacation in mountains. Maybe a special diner or favorite Maine restaurant inspired a return trip to that favorite place. And all along the way, Mainers make it as enjoyable as recollecting that special memory.

We now find ourselves at a crossroads in Maine. While we come to appreciate the Maine ideal, there are many lingering questions: How do we promote sustainable growth and stimulate our economy? How can we boost economic prosperity throughout all areas of Maine? Where will our children live, if they can not find good paying jobs? Is the promise of a better tomorrow something that is within reach? Will healthcare and daily living expenses outstrip income?

The question: are we determined to provide the kind of leadership and vision, to not only serve our constituencies, but deliver a better future for all of Maine? Will the Maine experience be as good for Mainers as we imagine it to be?

From Presque Isle, to Kittery; from Skowhegan to Rockland; from Bangor to Portland and from Lewiston/Auburn to Lubec, the answer is staring us in the face. Yes, it is the brand we call Maine and yes it is the people of Maine that make it special. And so, the leadership required to inspire us to a vision of a better tomorrow also exists. It is time to grasp the Maine opportunity and create a real and lasting change for a better tomorrow.
